Feb. 2020 Windows Replacement Project Update

During removal of old, and installation of new, windows for the Demonstration Project, it was discovered that the central mullion – the vertical feature reaching from roof to ground and separating the two windows on each floor – has corroded and is no longer providing the necessary support…

Jan. 2020 windows replacement project update

Because of the potential for unknown and/or unanticipated issues in any replacement/retrofit project involving a 45-year old building, the Board decided to complete a “Proof of Concept” phase before initiating the comprehensive window replacement project. This proof of concept – or “Demonstration Project” - consists of replacing the ten hallway windows in Tower 3. No residential units will be directly affected by the installation…

Several relevant questions and issues raised at the Town Hall meeting could not be not fully addressed at that time; accordingly, the Board requested responses to these questions from the window installation contractor and the window manufacturer. Their responses follow…

Garage Theft / Lock Box Removal

The Board wishes to inform homeowners that someone gained entrance into the Bay Scene complex Tuesday night around 1:30 am using a fob provided to a vendor. The fob was in one of the lock boxes on the railing in front of Tower 3.

It appears the lock box was cut and removed sometime after 5:00 pm Monday night. The fob was taken from the lock box and used to gain entrance all over the complex; including the front lobby, where the suspect was seen stealing packages and in the garage where he broke into at least three cars (two with broken windows). Management has filed a police report on the break in and is following up to provide all available assistance in identifying and apprehending the perpetrator…

2018 Bay Scene “State of the OA” Address

This is my last statement as President/Director of our Owner’s Association. Since moving here in 2004 I have been on the Board at least 10 of those years with several of them serving as your President. I think we can all say that’s more than enough and I’ve decided now is the time for me to hang up my spurs. It has been an honor and a pleasure being involved in the day-to-day operations of the Association’s business. Even dealing with all of the various comments and complaints has been rewarding, as without them the Board would never be challenged to remain responsive to our community…

Architecture Committee 2011 Year End Report

It’s been a busy year, but much of what we set out to do has been accomplished. (Some of the before and after pictures are shown below.) As many of you know, Bay Scene was built back in the early ‘70s as the No.1 quality complex on Mission Bay and has maintained that position ever since. For the past two years, it’s been the job of the Architectural Committee to assist the board with various projects that have to do with design and appearance…

June 2011 Architectural Committee Report

When our committee was formed, one of our first assigned projects was to address the clutter of mismatched signs at Bay Scene. A photographic inventory was made to show us the extent of the problem. With the signs produced by different boards over the years for different purposes, there is very little consistency. We currently have a jumble of different designs and colors with a few duplications…

February 2011 Architectural Committee Report

All of us at Bay Scene have spent a bundle over the years upgrading our interior and patio areas, but somehow our street side always seems to get overlooked. It’s unfortunate because studies by the National Association of Realtors show that the street side of a property is the one area that has the greatest impact on property values...both up and down…
